Annual Conference F.A.Q.s

What is Annual Conference?
A long time ago the founder church, John Wesley, felt that it was for his preachers
to get together regularly for prayer and Bible study. When the church was finally
established in the States, these conferences continued. as the church started to grow
there to also do business and other matters of the church. So, Annual Conference
today combination of the business of the church, worship and Bible study.

Why are youth important at Annual Conference?
Youth are an important part of church of today. Without youth participation as
delegates to Annual Conference, e no hear our concerns, our hopes and our dreams for
the future of The United Methodist Church.

In recent years youth have made significant contributions to the life of the church
through their participation at Annual Conference. In 1996 youth played an
instrumental part in getting Conference legislation passed to hire a full-time
Conference Youth Coordinator. In 1999, youth presented and the Conference passed
important legislation for our Youth Service Fund.

The last reason youth are important at Annual Conference is that we show adults how
to play and have fun. One only has to walk around at Annual Conference and see the
smiles on the faces of adults and hear them talking about how meaningful it is to
have youth attend.

How much does it cost to attend Conference?
$240 (includes 4 nights housing, 4 dinners, and a youth delegation T-shirt)

What will we be doing?
